Cover of Calm Parent Scripts: what to say in the hard toddler moments

You know the moment

Your toddler is screaming on the floor. Everyone is tired. And the right words are nowhere to be found. So out comes the thing you promised yourself you wouldn't say.

  • You're late, and the shoes are coming off for the third time.
  • Bedtime turns into "one more book" times five.
  • A little hand just hit you, or their brother.
  • The tablet goes away and the whole room falls apart.
  • You yelled, and now you feel awful.

None of this means you're doing it wrong. Toddlers feel huge things long before they have the words or brain skills to handle them. The hard part is that calm words are hardest to find exactly when you need them most. Calm Parent Scripts gives you those words ahead of time.

What changes when you have the words

1

Know what to say

Every script has a short "try saying" line in plain, natural sentences you can actually say out loud, even when you're stressed.

2

Know what to skip

An "instead of" line names the thing we all feel like saying, so you can catch it before it comes out.

3

A plan for round two

"If it keeps going" gives you a next step for when the first words don't land, plus a one-line "why it works".

4

No threats, no bribes

Kind and firm at the same time: you hold the limit and allow the feeling, without shaming, threats or sticker deals.

5

Calm for you, too

A 60-second reset for the moments you're about to lose it, and scripts for repairing after you yell.

6

Find it fast

A clickable contents page on your phone, and fridge cards for the moments that come up every day.

3The 5 p.m. meltdown

The momentLate afternoon. Everyone is tired and hungry, and the smallest thing tips them over.

Instead of

"What is wrong with you today?"

Try saying

"Your body is running on empty. Let's get you a snack and a cozy spot."

If it keeps going: Lower the lights, cut the noise, offer water. "We'll talk later. Right now we rest."

why it works · Hunger and tiredness make big feelings much harder to handle. Meeting the body's need often works better than talking about the behavior.

23Getting out of bed again and again

The momentTucked in, kissed goodnight, and two minutes later they're at the door again.

Instead of

"If you get out one more time, I'm closing the door!"

Try saying

"It's sleep time. I'll walk you back. I love you. See you in the morning."

If it keeps going: Walk them back calmly, with as few words as possible, every time. The same sentence, the same calm.

why it works · Calm, quiet repetition is less exciting than a big reaction. Over time, the sameness tells your child that nothing interesting happens after bedtime.

33When you're running late

The momentYou need to leave in two minutes, and they're slow, distracted, and not listening.

Instead of

"Hurry up! You're making us late!"

Try saying

"We need to leave now. I'm going to help you. Let's go together."

If it keeps going: Keep your voice low and your words short. Do the next step with them instead of calling from another room.

why it works · Rushing and pressure tend to make toddlers slower. Joining them and taking the next step together usually gets you out the door faster.

Is it for you?

It's for you if…

  • you have a toddler or preschooler, roughly 1 to 5 years old
  • you want to yell less, but freeze or snap when it gets loud
  • you like gentle parenting, but also want clear, kind limits
  • you want short, practical words, not a 300-page theory book
  • you're a parent, grandparent, nanny or caregiver who wants everyone to use the same calm language

It's not for you if…

  • you're looking for a quick trick that guarantees no more tantrums (nothing honest can promise that)
  • you need help with a medical, developmental or sleep concern. Please talk to your pediatrician or a specialist
  • you prefer punishments, time-outs or reward charts as your main tools
  • your child is school-age. The scripts are written for little ones
  • you want a printed book mailed to you. This is a digital PDF

Questions

What ages is it for?

Toddlers and preschoolers, roughly 1 to 5 years old. The book includes tips for shortening the words for 1- and 2-year-olds and for letting 3- to 5-year-olds help plan the next step.

What format is it, and when do I get it?

It's a PDF (86 pages, US Letter) delivered as an instant download right after your order. You'll also receive the download link by email. Nothing is shipped.

Can I use it on my phone? Can I print it?

Both. The contents page is clickable, so you can jump to the right moment on your phone. The fridge cards, poster and feelings chart are made for printing at home. Outside the US, choose "fit to page" to print on A4.

Is this the same as the free guide?

No. The free guide has 10 tantrum scripts. Calm Parent Scripts has 120 new scripts across 12 situations, plus all the printables. None of the scripts are copied from the free guide.

Will it stop my child's tantrums?

No product can honestly promise that. Tantrums and big feelings are a normal part of the toddler years. What the scripts give you is calm, ready-made words, so you can respond the way you want to, more often.

Is this medical or psychological advice?

No. It's educational content with everyday parenting language, not medical, psychological or therapeutic advice. If you're worried about your child's health, development, sleep or eating, please talk to your pediatrician or another qualified professional.

The scripts say "Mommy", "Daddy" and use names like Maya and Leo. Will it fit my family?

Yes. Names and family words are just examples. Swap in whatever fits your family: Mama, Papa, Grandma, your child's name. Your warmth matters more than the exact wording.

Who processes my order?

Digistore24, our authorized reseller. You'll see Digistore24 on your statement and receive your receipt from them. They also handle sales tax/VAT and refunds.

What if it's not for me?

You're covered by the 60-day money-back guarantee above. Request a refund within 60 days and you'll get your money back in full.

Can I share it?

The PDF is for personal and family use in your home. Please don't resell or post it publicly. If a friend would like it, send them to this page.
